GUA SHA
Gua Sha is an ancient healing technique used by many practitioners of TCM.
The procedure begins by applying oil to the skin area being treated then using a smooth-edged jade comb to apply long and short strokes to the skin typically in the area of pain or along the back parallel to the spine.
The stroking motion creates a redness not unlike cupping that’s due to the breaking up of stagnation allowing for the smooth flow of blood and nutrients to access the area of pain. While Gua Sha is mostly used to treat pain, it can also be utilised to address many other conditions.
Conditions treated with Gua Sha include:
Asthma, bronchitis, colds, flu, fever, heatstroke, fibromyalgia, sprains and muscle weakness. The facial area can also be treated helping complexion and also reducing lines and wrinkles.
